Tuesday’s Tip – Read a Book
Today we are going to move slightly away from software and talk about books. As researchers, we all have our favorite genealogy and history books.
Sort Your Story blog author, Jennifer, has a great read to share. It is Bringing Your Family History to Life Through Social History by Katherine Sturdevant. I love this book because it discusses adding depth to your family history through stories, artifacts, local history, and other topics. The book is full of tips and suggestions on how to write social history into your family history and other topics to investigate. Those topics may lead you to new records too!
This book is currently out of print but many libraries have it so check yours or inter-library loan. I was able to secure my copy through an online used bookstore.
What are some books that you have in your genealogical library that have helped you or you could not live without?

Tuesday’s Tip – The In-Depth Genealogist Resources
Have you seen The In-Depth Genealogist (IDG), a new digi-magazine? If not, go visit their website and check out the Resource section. IDG has added resources to help get kids, parents, and teachers involved in genealogy. There is even a section called “Research Product Useful to Kids” where you can see Sort Your Story!
Stop by IDG today and take a peek. Let us know what you think of their website and how Sort Your Story can help engage your kids in genealogy.
